**Blurb** Her heart is broken and bleeding. But her blood is going to get her into trouble.

Tegan wonders if it is possible to die of a broken heart. For over two months she has grieved and not left the confines of her apartment in Tribane city. Following her friend Nicky’s advice, she is now going to step outside and start her life over again.

On her very first night outdoors, Tegan joins her friends at the Crimson club where she draws the attention of the mysterious owner, Ethan Cristescu. She is not entirely sure why this beautiful man is so interested in her, but she has a feeling there is something not quite right about him.

As she falls deeper into Ethan’s world, Tegan makes some shocking discoveries about who she really is, and finally uncovers the true face of her home city. Tribane is inhabited by vampires, dhamphirs, slayers, witches and warlocks. The problem is, they all want Tegan for her very special blood.

She doesn’t want to hide again, but she also doesn’t want these creatures to capture her. Tegan has a difficult decision to make. Should she run away or stand and fight?

Now that the blurb has grabbed your attention, let's meet our cast of characters shall we?

We have our heroine, the lovely Tegan. She of the long black hair and bluer than blue eyes.

Tegan tells us her story and introduces us to a motley supporting cast of characters. **a few spoilers here**

We have Ethan Cristescu - the extremely handsome blond owner of the night club Crimson and a vampire.
Next up let's meet Lucas, another vampire, he is Ethan's friend and employee.
There is the lovely Delilah, a dhamphir and Ethan's half sister - she works at Crimson.
Nicky, Tegan's best friend, an aspiring artist.
Next we meet the blue-haired Amanda, another friend of Tegan's who is a vampire wannabe.
There is the warlock and owner of Indigo Marcel Girard.  He is a member of the 12 families and believes only those born of the 12 families are capable of doing real magic.  Warlocks are one of the enemies of vampires.
The handsome and academic dhamphir Gabriel is up next.  He is unaware of his magical strengths, works at Indigo with Marcel - though doesn't always agree with him. He is the half brother of Ethan and Delilah.
Finn Roe is up next. The funny an charming Irishman is a member of DOH (Defenders of Humanity).  A group of slayers made up mostly of dhamphirs and a few select humans.  Finn's mother and sister were drained by a vampire.
Matthew was Tegan's boyfriend, he committed suicide 3 months before our story starts.
Antonia Herrington - the late governor Howard Herrington's wife and the new governess of the vampires. Power hungry, she is cold, hard and cruel.  Has no problem forcing humans to do as she wishes.
Dru (Drusilla) is a vampire and bodyguard for the Herrington's.
Rita is the sarcastic human/witch - she is not from one of the 12 families and is looked down on by Marcel and his ilk.  If they only knew how powerful she really is, and one of the reasons why.
And last but definitely not least we have our main villain, the spectral presence throughout the book that only shows himself near the end, the sorcerer Theodore. This is one megalomaniac who really needs to be put down.

Now that we have met some of interesting populace of L.H. Cosway's Tegan's Blood, let me first say, that I have some romantic suggestions for our author.  I can so see Finn and Delilah hooking up - I think it would be a humourous match to say the least, given their beliefs. I'd also match Gabriel with Rita, and Dru with Nicky - the rest well....ein with the exception of Ethan, the rest can sort themselves out.  Ethan **spoiler** is Tegan's, and maybe in future books in the series can heal her wounded heart.

I started this book with no expectations and was pleasantly surprised to find myself not only hooked, but unable to stop once I started. One sitting from start to finish. Tegan's Blood was skillfully delivered, the characters well thought out and even the most peripheral seasoned in such a way that we knew them and the flavour they bring to the story.

Tegan's Blood is the first novel by L.H. Cosway along with the first in The Ultimate Power series. If this first effort by this author is anything to go by we can expect great things in the future, not to mention an author that will soon be populating the booksellers shelves with our other favourite paranormal/urban fantasy writers.

I cannot wait to delve into the next book in this series. This may be a first offering by this author but it reads like one written by a seasoned vet of the literary arts.
